Untitled

Untitled is an installation work that was part of the “Daebu-Construction” project. The work aimed to fill the space using only three elements: ‘construction site scaffolding,’ ‘soil,’ and ‘humidity due to temperature differences.’ Here, scaffolding represents the structure and concepts borrowed from the ‘Construction site,’ while soil symbolizes the spatial characteristics of Daebu Island, and humidity metaphorically conveys a sense of vitality. In this city, soil seems to be constantly unearthed and used to cover or bury something anew. For instance, soil is excavated in numerous construction sites, and areas like landfills or reclaimed sites are covered with soil. Moreover, soil has hosted life, thriving and then decaying and vanishing, only to witness life’s resurgence in that very place. Regardless of how arid the soil may be, it can support the growth of naturalized plants. The narrative and vitality inherent in the soil are conveyed through the presence of humidity.
